WHY PRACTICE TAI CHI CHUAN?

Is your life more stressful today than it was yesterday? I’m sure your answer is “It is”. This is a worldwide phenomenon, not only affecting our society, but millions of human beings all over the world experience the same stress we do. This is but one reason for Tai Chi Chuan’s popularity worldwide.

This very special martial art was designed to help people handle stress. We know that anytime we are subjected to change, we are stressed, even though change is not necessarily a bad thing. Many changes are actually very favorable to us, yet this change also causes stress, and if it isn’t managed it can damage your health, physically, energetically, emotionally, mentally and even spiritually.

It is impossible to isolate ourselves from all the changes going on around us. They will affect us whether we like it or not, they will cause stress in our whole body. This is where Tai Chi Chuan has been found to contribute so much: the release of this stress more easily is just what we need. No pills, no hospitals, no strenuous exercises; just the practice of a martial art where violence is not the objective. Harmonizing your inner self is. Your physical body must be in, as close to perfect as possible, harmony with your energy, with your emotions and with your mind.
Our life is like a river flowing towards the ocean and we are in it. Sometimes the current gets so rough that we want to get out because we don’t know how to swim ashore and take a break. Tai Chi Chuan seems to slow things down; it’s like a hand reaching out to help us “get off” to the “shore of life”. We can rest and then go back to the center of the river, knowing we can slow down and even “give ourselves a rest” if we need to. In fact, by practicing Tai Chi Chuan as you “ride the river’s current down stream” you may even enjoy the experience which at one time stressed you out.

It will unblock your nervous system by unclogging the channels, called meridians, so energy (chi) can flow through them unobstructedly. These toxins are merely negative thoughts or emotions that are in a vicious circle stressing out your inner and outer being. Tai Chi Chuan will help you “get your house in order”. It will help tune up your body and your psyche. Your self esteem will then be at its peak.
